Working closely with the IBM Data Scientist team we were able to successfully build a Machine Learning model that would predict the Remaining Life of major components for large mining equipment, both Truck and Excavators. This involved compiling over 10 years historical data, from both Telemetric data from the onboard computers as well as oil sampling data.

This enabled the client, a large equipment distributor, to optimise maintenance replacement decisions for major components and improved forecasts for SCM to manage the ordering of new components, resulting in significant reduction in component replacement downtime and optimized inventory holding costs.
